If you are getting an error when trying to Send email, you most likely do not have your SMTP Authentication setup correctly.
Just Added
Outlook and Outlook Express
- To configure authenticated SMTP in Outlook Express:
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts
- Highlight your Mail account (it may be called mail.example.com).
- Click the Properties button on the right side to open a new window.
- Choose the General tab
- Verify the E-mail Address field is a valid account under your domain.
- Choose the Servers tab.
- Near the bottom, check the box next to My Outgoing Mail server requires authentication.
- Click the Apply button.
- Click the OK button.
Netscape Messenger
- To configure authenticated SMTP in Netscape Messenger:
- From the Edit menu, select "Preferences"
- Click the plus (+) icon next to "Mail & Newsgroups."
- Choose "Mail Servers."
- In the "Outgoing mail server user name" field enter email address: username@example.com
- Click the OK button.
Eudora
- To configure authenticated SMTP in Eudora:
- From the Tools menu, Select "Options"
- Click on the the "Sending Mail" icon.
- Check the box next to "Allow authentication."
- Click the OK button.
Macintosh
- For SMTP Authentication, make sure that you have Outlook Express 5.02, then...
- Open the configured account that is having issues...
- Go to the servers tab.
- At the bottom of the box you will see a 'click here for advance sending options' button.
- Click this button.
- When the dialog box opens, click the 'SMTP server requires authentication' check box.
- By default, the 'Use same settings as incoming mail server' button is clicked.
- Check 'Log on using' instead of 'Use same settings as incoming mail server.'
- In the account ID box, enter your Account as you email address, but instead of the '@' sign, use the '&' sign.
